L'obligation pour les banques de contrôler systématiquement si un client possède en double un même livret défiscalisé, comme le Livret d’Epargne Populaire (LEP) ou le Livret de Développement Durable et Solidaire (LDDS), a été repoussée d'un an et demi, selon le Journal officiel daté du samedi 3 janvier 2026.
Depuis 2013, lorsqu'un épargnant demande l'ouverture d'un Livret A, la banque a l'obligation de vérifier systématiquement auprès de l'administration que le client n'en possède pas déjà un dans une autre banque. Mais ceci ne concernait pas les autres livrets d’épargne réglementée. Un décret paru en 2021 prévoyait d'y remédier et de généraliser cette obligation de contrôle au plus tard en janvier 2026.
